any suggestions (that aren't get an ipod) would be really appreciated.
Is that just because of the price, or are you one of those people who are completely against appple products?

The Zen is kinda cool, but the proce reduction is negligible, although the jog dial on the right side, which is a little weird (I have a sony clie with the jog on the left). Come to think of it, the case on the zen looks exactly like my clie!

hmm...

Anyhoo, the iPod's no longer the only one on the block, but it's the best as far as I'm concerned.

Also, does anyone know wnything about the new napster player?

Apparently you can download from 'anywhere' according to an ad I saw. Nonetheless, its appaently a pretty nice Mp3 player too.

I have the same problem with mine. It stays charged a lot longer than 30 mins but it doesn't last for the 8 hours that was advertised either.

Are you actually running down the battery until it shuts off, or going by the battery meter? 'Cause the battery meter is very inaccurate. Mine lasts for like 6 - 8 hours I think.

have you checked out the rio karma? I've heard good things about that. Also, there is some sorta hard drive player from iriver... something like "idp-100" or something... I dunno, anyways I read its good too. Both the karma and idp-100 are supposed to be just as good or better than the ipod... or so i've read. One thing that gets me about the ipod is the battery life... 6-8 hours? thats kinda short I think... and you can't replace the battery if it ever loses capacity over time, or if you wanted a backup. But then I suppose I compare it to my minidisc player that gets about 40-50 hours on a single double-a battery hahahaha. Tho I did see a guy on a plane with an ipod, it looked pretty sweeet, I know they are super good.

Don't know if someone already mentioned this but the Nomad JukeBox Zen is a really good mp3 player, but the iPod is still the best.

Yah I’m looking at the meter. I’ve actually been able to listen to music about 40 mins when there’s only a little sliver of juice left on the meter. I just eventually turn it off because I thought it was going to power down at any time.

Do you know if apple plans to release any updates to fix the meter problem?
