uhh - didn't know where to put this. Here's the deal:
I plan on taking a longer trip... (going to Malta for NewYear's...) I will be taking my trusty camera and hopefully bring back lots of nice pics. What I usualy do when I get out of town is - I take along my laptop and download the pics I'm taking on it. I usually take about 500-600 pics per day. Then when I come home I sort them out - get rid of the real ugly ones... comb a bit the nicer... and so on. Well I'll be staying a full week in Malta. the pic count should climb as high as 3600-4000. I was planning on buying something like an I-pod - but I would really like to get something that will allow me to transfer pics from my camera directly onto ...it - whatever it will be. If it has a display I can preview pics on - all the better. It has to be able to read Sony Memory Sticks. Or have USB and allow me to download from the camera. I would really like to leave my laptop at home - it's kinda bulky to drag along mountains and stuff so this seems like a nice ideea - for the future too.

so - if any of you guys could offer some advice... - about 10 Gigs space on it should be plenty.....

The iPod has that new Belkin media reader, that allows you to transfer pictures directly from memory cards to the iPod, but the reviews say it is slow and drains the battery life ridiculously fast.

There is stuff like this though: http://www.steves-digicams.com/digital_wallet.html

the digital wallet thing is not so good - only 6 Gigs @ 480$... for 150$ extra I could get one with 20Gigs and a monitor

this seems to be the best thing I found so far... Kinda bulky but you're limited only to the number of CDs you can carry....

still looking though

500-600 pics per day?!
And why haven't we seen more photos on the digital photography showcase :P?
But sorry I can't really help you with your problem...
Only thing I could think of is buying more memory cards to your camera...
If you take like 1024*768 there should be possible to take like about 150 photos on a card..right?
So buy a few of those...no...I don't really know sorry...

Well - I'm kinda saving the best - I'm making a royalty free pics site... it's gonna be all nice pics - free for everyone
- for instance look at this - uhh - warning! - extremely large pic - 3.14 megs...

Uhh - yeah - there is that but I'm taking 5 megapixel resolution pics - around 2 - 3 megs each - I'm doing a lot of print work too and I need the pics big.... and a 128 Megs card will only fit about 50 or so. ...I would need a whole lot of cards heh...

I think there are 1Gig minidrives that act as memory sticks. My friend said he had something like that, when he gets online I'll ask him.
