I've figured it out. In order to explain it properly, i'm gonna label each of the slides. Slide A is the one with 12 people, Slide B has 13. I think it has to do with the assortment pattern of the people. Originally, there are 12 people in Slide A - 2 in the center, then 5 on each side. Slide B shows there being 2 people in the center and then six on the left side and five on the right. The illusion you recieve is that each person is cut in half and then rearranged.. so logically there should be the same number of people afterwards. However, you can notice that one person is not cut in half. In slide A it is the 3rd guy from the right. in slide B it is the 6th person. It is this one person that makes the difference. Slide A has this pattern of people:
The one in bold is the culprit. When they rearrange, you get this:
Why? Because logically every one of them should be cut, but they're not. the one in bold is still left intact. So, the people are arranged in such a manner so that they all are cut in half, except for the one guy. the way that the top halves line up with the bottom halves , as well ast he dude in bold, are positioned so it would be 1 extra. it is good to note that the "culprit" has a small small piece of his shoe cut off. That doesn't matter.. because at the end he doesnt match up with another piece. So it still looks like the tip of his shoe is cut off, but most people wouldnt notice it becuase it still looks pretty normal. If the tip is left behind and is paired up with another person (as it is), but the "culprit" doesn't need to pair up with anothe person then wham, there's the extra person. enjoy :D |

Well yeah I figured out about the feet pretty quickly coz he is the only whole person...So I knew it was becoz of him... But what I still can't figure out is the heads... How does it make 12 -> 13? That doesn't change if the guy is whole or not... |
