Anyone following the World Series? I'm not a big baseball fan myself but for some odd reason, I'm getting into it a little.

I would've rather have seen the Cubs face off the Yankees. Who you rooting for?

Yankees here.

I hate the Yankee's. These playoffs were amazing up UNTIL the World Series. I'm rooting for Florida, but that isn't saying much.

Professional baseball should have salary caps so we wouldn’t get teams like the Yankee’s.

I would have liked to have seen the sox and the cubs play each other. Both teams haven’t made it to the world series in years and they were both really good this year.

Screw the Yankees. The rest of the playoffs were great, even though I'm a Cubs fan. :(

I agree with the idea of a salary cap in baseball. But, greedy owners like Steinbrenner will never let it happen. If you look at the NFL, you'll see a good example of salary cap usage. Any week, any team has a chance of winning. If you would've told me that the Vikings and Cheifs would be undefeated this far into the season, I'd have told you you were nuts... most will agree. It's what keeps fans coming to games and watching at home every week.

Also, the NHL is going through some real issues getting a cap - they may have a lock out next season because of it, too. I desperately hope they get their heads out of their butts and strike a deal between the players union and the team owners.

On a side note, if you look at the commissioners of each league, you'll see if the league is a success or not. Needless to say, Bud Selig (MLB) is the biggest ASS of a commissioner (he's biased as hell, he owns the Milwaukee Brewers!) - and Gary Bettman (NHL) is a BIG IDIOT as well. MLB and NHL are in trouble because of these two MORONS. Paul Tagliabue is a great commissioner, and you can see it every Sunday and Monday Night - ratings and integrity of NFL are at an all time high.

What's great though, is the fact that there are still successful long shot teams who keep us coming back, and believing in our teams and favorite sports. Just ask the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Florida Marlins, Anaheim Angels & even my beloved Cubbies. All long shots who went deep into their playoffs.

...and please don't get me started on the NBA - ugh!

Just a question though, being the ignorant individual I am towards this kind of stuff.

How do salary caps effect a team's ability to make it to the World Series?

The teams are off balanced. Not but a little but by awhole lot. A salary cap would make it so that teams like the Expos for example could buy some decent players.
