how do you do it? I'm kinda confused. If the person you are trying to make a site for doesn't know any html, how are they going to know how to put in updates, add new content, etc. And if they only know basic html, what if they aren't able to figure out your 'complex' tables, etc. Do you just make it for them, then say 'live with it' or do you offer some explanation to help them, or do you say something like 'it'll cost ya if you wanna figure it out'? I'm lost. |

Using CSS for your layout makes editing the site 4,000 times easier than using nested tables. You could use contribute or something similar, or something like www.webedpro.com which is browser based. You could also make the content updateable through a database. Depending on your site something like www.movabletype.org might work well. You could also charge them a fee every time they want you to update the site. or put them on a monthly fee that they pay, and you update it when they want. |

Have them download a free html editor like Arachnophilia and comment your code so they can understand it. HTML is easy to learn (the basics are). Better yet, charge them to do it! |

Or you could start learning a serverside language in which all they have to do is type in a little box, like this "quick reply" box and hit submit.

If they just needed to update their news every so often, you could just set something really simple up for them through www.blogger.com or something like that. It's nothing fancy... but it will get the job done.
