Ugh, what's with all the mac threads? Is there a MP (Mac Pryde YO) epidemic going one? Seriously, the G5 is nothing special. Yes, it's a good computer. But it's nothing to orgasm about. /rant over |

Ouch. Should be renamed to 'further proof Mac lovers have no sense of humor' i've seen less funnier things with worse artwork get less BS then this post did. Ouch. What the hell is up with that? Why are you all so bitchy and defensive about it? Yah, k, wasn't all that great. But it wasn't even worth my time to hate it let alone post about how bad it was. Man, lighten up. |

I'm curious if YOU can explain. Tell us why it's nothing special. Elaborate. Don't brush over things. Tell us exactly why there is nothing special about it. We all know its a good comp, but what makes it just good and not great? |

Yes, the dual 64bit cpu might be considered speacial. However you can already build a dual 64bit opteron machine that will, I guarantee you, outperform the G5... for less money. Yes, it looks nice with it's pretty, smooth aluminum. Lian Li cases look better. They are of better quality with better looking aluminum... for less money. Sure it might have an uber custom cooling system. So does my computer... it's not as good as the G5's but it's also interchangeable and costs much less. It's nothing speacial, because it is NOT the fastest desktop computer in the world, it is NOT unique with it's dual 64bit CPU's. The one thing that might be unique about it is the CD tray opening mechanism, true, I have never seen that anywhere. For $3000... I'll build my own dual opteron system... and still save some money. Ok, that was just the CPU stuff. The $3000 G5 has a Radeon 9600 Pro (64MB). Which is worse than my 9500 Pro (128MB). Don't the numbers fool you, read any review comparing these cards and you'll see. After the new wave GPU's hits this late september, early october, the 9600 Pro will begin to become obsolete. RAM. It has 512 DDR400 SDRAM. Ok... I have 512MB DDR466 RAM. Hmm... interesting. Oh, in case you're wondering here are my computer specs: AthlonXP 2500+ Barton @ 200x11=2200Mhz=2.2Ghz MSI K7N2-L 512MB Buffalo Tech PC3700 Radeon 9500 Pro WD 60GB 8MB cache primary IBM 10GB 2MB cache secondary LiteOn 52x32x52 CDRW Apex Tu-150 case w/ custon window, red CCFL's, custom cooling setup WindowsXP PRO w/ SP3 All this originaly cost me $980 (last winter), since then I've added about $300 to it (including new CPU, RAM). |
