Right now I am enrolled in my first year of college at a local Community College. I am very interested and have a love for web design and photoshop. Has anyone gone through "art school" and enjoyed their experience? I am wondering if it is a good move considering this is what I trule want to do in life. (Web design, computer graphics). ANY insight will help tremendously. Thanks.

i wouldn't go for any kind of "web" related degree, but studying graphic design probably wouldn't be a bad idea if its what you want to do. its a tough market tho, and not everyone's cut out for it. chris |

If you are interested in web design I would start taking some programming classes and database design.

I'm in exactly the same boat you're in. First year at a CC. If you're gonna go into some computer animation, I'd keep my foot in some standard drawing/ design classes, but for web design, definitely some progging. I'm going for industrial design myself. Transferring, and whatnot. |

The most important lessons you'll learn in college have nothing to do with the actual courses you take.

I suggest majoring in art. That way you can do just about any graphic or design related thing you want.

I have to dissagree...i think if you want to become a web designer, first get a degree in graphic design. Learn all the coding stuff afterwards. Nice design is usually more important than fancy scripting.
