for the money the Graphire is the way to go...its active surface is 4x5 (inches) and has 512 levels of pressure sensitivity...(511 more than a mouse)

but since you are an illustrator....you might want to spend about 80 dollars more and get the 4x5 intuitus instead.... it has double the number of pressure sensitivity levels.

If I could talk the wife into it I would go get the 9x12! almost 500 bucks! *drools*

Gosh, would I love to get my hands on a 9 x 12 intuos! I'll get that when I get my dual 800 mHz Power Mac G4 with the 22" cinema flat screen! Neither of which are in my near future!!! Torn, I've got the graphite one.
