Hello everyone: Is it true? Is Netscape 7 the end of the road. I found two interesting links I thought you all might like to look at: http://zdnet.com.com/2100-1104_2-1026078.html http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/4/31765.html Hmm...what do you all think? Cheers! |

The good part is they are dumping Netscape and just donating some money to the gnu Mozilla project. yeah those freaking ads made it so I never would install that bloated piece of crap.

http://www.evolt.org/article/Browser_Wars_II_The_Saga_Continues/25/60181/index.html Nice little history and speculation on the future of web browsers by a pretty smart fellow. It is probably for the best that netscape goes away. Except for the fact that the only two browsers people know about is IE and Netscape. Now when they hear netscape is dead, they'll all just move to IE. Unless of course something is done to educate people on Firebird and Opera and mozilla and safari. The new Mozilla page is getting there, but it stilll needs to be a LOT less developer and nerd and a lot more consumer oriented "hey, this is why you should use this. look at all the cool features! look at the pretty pictures" or people will be too intimidated. And we have a window since IE won't be updated for another 3 or 4 years. This may be a good idea: http://www.tbray.org/ongoing/When/200x/2003/07/17/BrowserDream or maybe not. Who knows. |
