i know a friend (they always do ;)) who can take off ads from angelfire without paying. he says he doesnt hack their server or effect them at all. the equivilent of a small piece of code in the source will remove the ad. he asked me if this is illegal. is it? cheers.. |

I'm guessing it is. If it isn't it is morally wrong because they allow you to use their free web service and in exchange you display an ad for them to recieve profit. So you are allowing them to lose profit and may eventually lose service along with everyone else when they go bankrupt. If they didn't need the ad there, there would be an option to get rid of it, wouldn't there?

might mighty true. but when i say "angelfire" what do you think of? ... free hosting (hope so :p) angelfire doesnt emphasize their web hosting (not free) as much as some do. so if they didnt put an ad on there would be alot... ALOT more people using angelfire, and so, they'd have to close down that side of things. hence, no advertising (even thought i doubt they need it). i'd say the main ppl buying from angelfire are thick ppl who just want to get rid of that ad. oh well, interesting moral topic :o yawn... |

I'm sure it says in the terms of service that you can not modify the code they put on your pages for the purpose of advertising, which would mean you were not honoring that contract, which would make it illegal. So, yes.

Illegal, but they'd probably just ban yo *ss.... Geez. I'm going to say my chant again: hosting is real cheap now. $2.99 a month for hosting is all over the place. The last mocha frap I bought was more than that. No ads. Server side scripting. I mean if you can honestly afford design software then you have the money to buy hosting. At least if its only a few bucks. =) |

You can strip an html file of it's body tag and angelfire won't put an ad on that page. No extra code to remove ads, only angelfire's incompetent system... it should work perfectly in IE, syntax probs in Opera and such ... unless Angelfire got off it's lazy ass and fixed it.
