Ok, my thoughts on this:

I live in the Bay Area. For about 9 months or so this same feature has been offered at Starbucks locations all around here. I have never, not once, seen a user use this service. I go to Starbucks at least once a day, to all kinds of different locations.

Still, it's not like as if people that enjoy dining at MacDonalds for longer than 10 minutes will be willing to use the PDA's/Laptops there... as if they owned them in the first place.

I'm also sure that this won't be 802.11g access, it will be 802.11b, which is rather slow (~5 times slower than g) and somewhat outdated already. Not even mentioning 802.11a

This will not work. Stupid idea, waste of money.

Well there are lots of web designers and technical people in San Francisco with laptops that could probably use the service, but I don't imagine them eating at McDonald's that often. Plus it wouldn't be a very nice place to do any real work, considering there are screaming, whining kids in there all the time.

Yeah... fast food and electronics dont really work that well, all that greace on your fingers and then touching keys and screens and stuff... not good.

I think WIFI in some areas is a really good idea, but I dont really think WIFI in McDonalds is that great of a place for it haha...

well i think its a very cool thing, although i dont know too many people that actually spend that much time at mcdonalds. starbucks i can understand people go there to drink coffee, chat, read the paper, etc. mcdonalds on the other hand, people just eat and leave. Maybe this will change that? either way im always thrilled that wifi is growing and growing.

hahaha - oh my god listen to you spoiled americans talking about stuff you don't need....
there are maybe 6 (six - count'em) McDonalds in all of Romania. The kids think they're in heaven when they go inside... McDonalds is like the hip place to be if you're 14 and/or have had your first period or your first zit lol...makes me sick to the stomach.

boy what I wouldn't give to be there with you yappin' about something people actually do.
heck I'd go anywhere - in Romania what I do (webdesign) is illegal because this is not a real job. It's not even written in the accounting codebooks. My work permit says "computer operator" because it's the closest thing covered by the law... Romania never heard about dental plans and you're not allowed to choose your own health insurance company - it is decided by the state and run by the state - guess what you get for paying 10% every month for 10 years? nothing - the hospitals are rusty and they only have aspirin... God, medical malpractice was not punishable by law until 3 years ago...my grandmather died because a stupid doctor forgot a cotton wad inside her belly while opperating her for kidney stone. He got away with it but moved out of town - if ever I find him I will wring him like a puppet.

Anyone wanna adopt me??

[EDIT]= I know you have nothing to do with my stupid country - it's not your fault or anything - I was just venting my sh!t ... sorry if I annoyed anyone...
