Did you guys hear that today (July 6, 2003), there is a competition amongst hackers to hack into 6000 websites in 6 hours?

A lot of servers shut down on purpose today just to avoid this.

Anyone have some more info on it?

Hmmm... didn't see anything on 2600

I don't know, maybe it's bogus, maybe it's not.

That was also posted in March, that same thing.

one of the 2 most competitive servers to hack right now is the OSx (the other is Solaris? cant remember).... guess since its now an OS that can be used as a server we'll start seeing crackers finding vulnerabilities.... should be interesting. That sucks about web servers though =\....

Yeah I just saw something about his one TechTV... I guess there was a list of the sites that they "hacked" but when techtv talked to the companys on the list none of them actually were hacked...

I think it was just a bunch of crap... they probably just wanted people to shut down their servers thinking that they were going to be hacked, when really there was not hacking going on :P

well there arent not very many things that they can change if you have all of your stuff chmoded correctly, but I do see where things can be done that allow users to change things that you dont want them too :P
