I have a question for all you long time graphic designers. Does having an optical mouse increase your 'handling' when drawing? Does it give you better control? What are some you can recommend?

I have a logitech "Dell" optical mouse and still prefer my old Logitech trackball(uses optical to track the ball). But that is just my preference. Opticals are much better than traditional ball mice.

If you jump and hit your heels on the ground your balls will no longer be stuck.

What if its really cold outside??? lol "handling when drawing" Absolutely not. Or if it does...its not enough to be noticable. But besides from drawing...... optical is the best. Edit: Im not exactly sure what your looking for (something to draw with...or just a good mouse) but if your concerned with the drawing you should look into tablets (wacom or any other kind). |

Yep... An optical mouse REALLY makes a difference... for me anyways. Im using the Microsoft IntelliMouse Optical and I really like it, 5 buttons, web wheel etc... |

I've got a logitech basic optical [I hope to get a tablet type device soon ] and to me it seems more precise. It doesn't jump around when you get hairs in it either ;)

My graphics skills improved greatly after getting an optical mouse. My fragging skills also improved. Basically it's the ability to make a smooth straight line, say with the pen tool. It also makes things more precise. Get one if you don't already have one. |

I recommend a tablet and a optical mouse, dude. I have the apple one at work and a microsoft intellimouse here at home, I like the intellimouse better because of the wheel and the programmable buttons. Give each of them a little time to get comfortable, and you'll be 110% glad you did! - whoa, did I just say I liked the microsoft over apple? somebody shoot me! :D |
