...but just an observation of pure stupidity. I found this horrendous example of spelling and grammar at it's worst tonight. Would you really want to hire someone that couldn't even bother to spell-check the text on their company web site? ======================= The Re-Data LLC Professional Difference..experience it! Thinking about a web site? Is your web developer certified or………??? Certification: What does it mean? After all, anybody can build a web page...or can they? You cannot just buy a piece of software and call yourself a web developer! Placing any website online does not mean that it will work in any browser and on any computer. Programming knowledge is something you do not get with any software package. Did you know that most of the sites on the web could have been made in Microsoft Office (FrontPage) as word docs and then saved as an html doc (web page) Why pay a nonprofessional for the same results (or lack of) that you can do for FREE? Having a pprofessianlonline presence is an important decision. If you do NOT understadn what a website is other than just seeing the graphical user interafce to the programming, please check the credentials of who ever you hiore. There is NO major company online that uses Front Page to develop a website becuase it is a tool made for a hobbyist to build his/her home pages! It is NOT a business tool. Is your business a hobby? Of course not then why hire a hobbyist to develop your online business presence. If you had a business would you trust your books to somebody that bought the software QuickBooks? Or, rather, would you go to a Certified Public Accountant. Well unfortunately with the cheap availability of software that allows the average computer user to create what looks like a web page, many folks are getting much less than they think they are paying for. These programs such as Front page are called WYSIWYG programs. What you see is what you get. They are aptly called that because you only get a page that you see. No programming and very bloated code that is not cross browser friendly. Now if you bought a violin could you play in the symphony with Isaac Perlman? Of course not Just having the tools of a profession does not make one a professional. A lot of education, training and experience goes into being a professional. This is another reason why certifications are so very important for the professional and especially for the client to make sure that the person they hire can do the job!! Would you have a neighbor who built a tree house then design your new home and then proceed to build it? Imagine then, if you will, what is happening when a web site is contracted to uncertified people in the web industry. Re-Data.com is the only web development company, on the Oregon Coast that is fully certified! And to our knowledge has more certifications than any other web development company in Oregon as of Feb. 1st 2002. The web has matured and along with it comes professional certifications to separate the wannabes and hobbyists from the professionals. Compare your site to these. www.WebPagesThatSuck.com This is a site by Vincent Flanders a well know web author of the best selling web design book "WebPagesThatSuck" It illustrates what a good site should be by showing us bad design examples and why not to use them. As Vincent says. "Where you learn good Web design by looking at bad Web design" |

As far as illiterate people go: Own previous landlady (like landlord, but a woman ;) ) was one of the stupidest people I have yet to encounter. We were once late on a payment because of February. As we all know it has only 28 days. We paid on the 30th. She knows that we're Russian and both my mom and dad have slight accents. She also knows that we've been living here only 6 years. She called and said (to my mom): "Oh, don't worry, honey. I've lived in this country my whole life and still get confused with February". My mom was laughing so hard I had to take over the phone. Seriously, how can someone living in our time not know that the whole world has the same calendar? When we moved out she was rather mad and wrote us a letter by hand. It contained errors like: "the door witch didn't open" ("witch" instead of "which")... "more then happy" ("then" instead of "than"). And the funniest one of all: "twoney yards" ("twoney" instead of "twenty"). Oh, well. Just another product of the American education system. This post is not an insult. It's a story. :D As far the thread goes: Some of the errors in the above statement look like typos... so I don't know... maybe they are.. maybe they're not. |

Hey, I type like that all the time, hehe...But I'm improving, aren't I ? I'm a swede with avarage knowledge of the english language, and I do not take offence while reading this post (even if I should) but I'm sure you don't mean people of my kind... I mean, even I notice the bad typing that is done here and done by english speaking plp, and I sometimes do not understand a whole post...along with others I might add. That is...eh...remarkable, init ? I'm not looking to get everybody to type like a PHD or something, (then I can leave this forum) but just readable, that's my two cent's... |
