Mostly regarding what education you have. What degree do you have/should you get? What are some of the classes I should take? I.E. Should I be taking some business classes etc. |

I currently work at a large casino/resort in Las Vegas in the Advertising Dept. and my degree is from a 4 year university. I recommend taking lots of fine art classes (figure drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, Art History), some business classes (accounting, Math), and not hurrying through school. My degree is technically a B.A. in Art, with emphasis on Graphic Design. Oh - another thing - tour the computer department before you sign up for ANY school. You could fall victim to budget cuts, and end up with some really out dated equipment. that would suck. hope I could help. good luck. |

In ad agancies you have two type of peoples, The first one are the who who create the concept, the idea the slogan, their dutie is to palce the marketing strategies in places, they studied in marketing... The second type is the technicians type, wich can include tv producer for tv ad graphics designer and webmasters. Their job is to make sure than concept created by the marketing guys will become to life, they use they design espertise and thei technical to produce the materials... A good realations betwn the two is they key to succes... Advertising is not a one man job... |

Yeah, I'm on course for a B.A. as well but in New Media. I'm starting my non-core classes (already did the english and math and that stuff) in the fall. I haven't taken any business classes though. I thought I might need to. There's always summer school for that I guess. The school I'm planning on is supposedly one of the best in my area for my degree. I've looked around and it's all up to date so thats good. thanks for the help Hey what's up? I haven't been up to that much. I've not been as productive in my 'work' as you probably have been. I've mostly just been doing the school thing. And watching a ton of tv. I wish I did a ton more work than I have but I just didn't have any good ideas. I've got some know though. A masters in Advertising sounds good and America is nice ;) That sort of bums me out. I'd like to do both. I'm a control freak. I have equal amounts of fun coming up with ideas and putting them on paper. I've figured that I'd have to take some business and marketing classes. That's good to know. thanks for all the help |
