yup for me too. I guess you will to wait for the dns-servers to do something and you will be able to see it to.

Well all you do is make sure the name you registered 'points' to the name servers you are hosting your site on, ie. ns1.YourHostingCompany.com ns2.YourHostingCompany.com Those would be 2 examples of name servers. If your friend set that up for you already, sometimes it takes a day or two for the name resolution to take place. You got to realise once you have a DNS name, it needs an IP so it will resolve to a web site. Once that happens, then it takes a bit of time for all the routers around the world to add your IP to their list so the DNS servers will resolve it. To be a bit techy about the whole she-bang. But it looks like it is working. |

One thing extra - some name registrants need the IP address of the name servers as well. So ask for both the URL and the IP. They often just give you the URL. Save you a step asking them twice. **** edit **** a word of advice. Your friend registered your Domain name for you. So he has an account with your name on it. I would (if possible - depends on the circumstances.) get that info from him, unless he has that as part of his business and he is a middle person. Reason I am telling you is I ran into a circumstance where I needed the domain account information to transfer a site from one host to another and it's been almost a year and that person is still paying for 2 hosting accounts because of their stupidity and never kept track of their Domain account information - the email from the company to reply for it is no longer valid as well. They went through several 'fax's' of ID's credit cards, etc. to verify the person was who they were, and with several emails they still have not sent the account information. That company that has the account is Versign - reason why I hate those mofo's. Easy to get your business - but incredibly irritating to get any help from them. Sorry to rant, but it is always good to keep track who has your domain account info because if you lose it, you can lose your domain name quite easily. 1 day of it expiring and if its a nice name someone will grab it up very quickly. |
