Wow...It seems that I've really started something here

The best way to write a tutorial for an effect is to make it so that it somewhat resembles the secret technique, yet it's missing that unique flair your secret possesses.
!mo0chan!

I totally agree.

I read this tutorial a few weeks ago, and acording to the final example at the bottom of the page, I hadn't gotten the effect quite right. So, I tried a few more things, and finally got it better, but still not quite like his.

Ultimately, however, I didn't care because I had learned a few new tricks, just through the process. I have since adapted them to a my existing repertoire, and have been able to do a number of new effects, that stem form the fact that I already know what I'm doing.

Had I not had any clue as to how photoshop worked, I'd be able to do that one effect pretty well, but nothing else. That, I suppose is what we're all talking about here anyway, then isn't it?

I'm glad to see such a response. I thought this thread wouldn't get any hits.

If the net is one thing, it's an information repository.

Share your technique and feel justifiably proud if everyone emulates it - if they don't it must have been a suckass technique anyway;)

I guess that was what the internet was developed for at first, thehermit.

Nowadays it's much more then that though, you can express yourself through it. Meet friends... etc. etc.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with sharing techniques, but you don't see the code to the safe of fort knox on the internet either right? Some things are better kept a secret.
And I guess 'suckass' technique doesn't really go for the tubes, since there are like thousands that want to know how to do it.

And I guess pank is proud enough that there are this much people asking for a tutorial.

I would like to see that pic with the new technique, when ya gonna post it.

And, not to be out of place or rude or anything but I really dont see whats so special about the "tubes" thing. Looks pretty straight forward to me. (Make the shapes with the elipse tool, then just a matter of the proper shading and small details) Am I missing something?
