One of my interest in graphics design is packaging... I simply love to look at product package and Iwish to create them someday... However I have a hard time finding good information about-it. So if anyone here know any good book about packaging (or a site with good information about-it), please tell me about-it... For books... it would to usefull to have the ISBN number...or a link.. I fond this one on Amazon, but im not sure if this is only a showcase or does it have any infomration on to do-it at all ? http://www.amazon.ca/exec/obidos/ASIN/1564968170/ref=pd_sim_dp_3/701-1225468-2205945 |

Graphic Design Book Club has a section on packaging... http://www.graphicdesignbookclub.com/ :: edit :: Oops.... sorry--if you're not a member, they don't let you see all the books, only the free ones they offer to join up. So, I'll pass the info on :D They have 4 books in Packaging >> Experimental Packaging Packaging Graphics Packaging Prototypes 2: Closures The Perfect Package But alas, I guess you can't get at them until AFTER you join. :( Still I enjoy the membership--access to nice material and no obligation; you just have to remember to log on every couple of weeks and "decline" the featured selection or else they send it to you. |

Zyconium... there is somes... however one of the reason whe have many studio here in Montreal is than Québec has a huge cultural difirence from the rest of North America... so when it come to advertising a simple translation simply don't work... even American company hire Montreal studios to do their stuff... Advertisement in Québec are done in Québec... But I know a few designer here who dont speak french really well ... so their is jobs The bigest studio here are... Marketel (www.maketel.com) Cossette (www.cossette.com) BOS (www.bos.ca) TAM TAM TBWA (www.tmtamtbwa.com) DIESEL (www.dieselmarketing.com BBDO Montréal (www.bbdo-montreal.ca) PALM (www.palm.ca) These are only a few... |

If I'm not mistaken, over 50% of Montreal's population is bi-lingual, with one of those languages being English... n'est pas?

yep... but being bi-lingual is often a requirement rather than an option for a lots of jobs... And French is used far more often then english... Also... Theres is French and English parts in Montreal... in Montreal English live mostly in Westmount (pretty rich)and in the West Island (the waest islan is mix)... A funny thing is how Downtown is divided... The english and French parts are divided by The Saint-Laurent boulevard... At side you have a Burger King on the Other there La Belle Province... But there is no rivality.... |

No rivalry, are you serious??? Then what's the whole Bloc de Quebecois about? I'm against Quebec seperatists, I would hate to see Quebec leave Canada. Especially when the PQ want to seperate and then have Canada subsidize them, thats entirely too lame for words. But more then that, Quebec is an important part of our history. My history even. And hey, BC is ignored severly by Ottawa, we might even pack up and leave. :D |
