Domain Name and Servers

Ok I was looking into buying a domain and getting and email account with of course a server or whatever you call it ftp space...? anyways you know what I mean. I basically want to have my own website with my own domain name and my own email account.

I was wondering what everyone recommended from personal experience. I don't want it too fansy and expensive because its really just for fun and practice. But I do want all I can get for my money.

Any recommendations will be greatly appreciated! :D

resources forum has tons of links. www.dreamhost.com is good. www.mediatemple.com is good. but they are both expensive. www.hostradius.com is good. 3 or 4 people here use them. including me. and malibu. and sidez.

Uber cheap. Uber good deal. I don't if it'll suit you though. I'm getting their service too, once we move.

I looked at MediaTemple and was very impressed, but then looked at Hostradius and it was MUCH cheaper. Whats the difference from MediaTemple and Hostradius? What does MediaTemple have that HostRadius doesn't have?

(I looked at the specs. but I don't really understand what everything is... I just understand the basics like Space and bandwidth, etc...)

Media Temple is one of the largest hosting companies out there. They have tons of servers and support staff. HostRadius is a smaller company with fewer servers, and thus fewer staff. They are still reliable and the servers are fast. So there really aren't any disadvantages. I'd go with hostradius. Oh wait... i do go with host radius.

I think this board says a lot about MT. It is huge and very stable (this board.). If you have that kind of money to spend on a host company then they seem very reliable.

Yeah MediaTemple is pretty impressive, but since I'm not really using my website for buisness purposes or anything... I think I'll go with Host Radius. Thanks for all the help! :D

yeah (mt) is great, I haven't had any problems yet.
