I'm looking into getting a tablet, specifically the intuos 2, but I was just wondering what people's general experiences have been with this and any other tablets you guys would reccomend or discourage. Just looking up some info before I cough up $250 (CDN) on the intuos. Oh, and hello forumgoers, mayhaps I'll stay here in these forums, as the last forum I frequented (FunXbox) is constantly up in the air with regards to the continuity of the site. I did some work there on the graphic staff and figured, hey, why not spiffy up my photoshop skills. :D Hmm..might as well give you the life story while I'm at it, point form style: -1st year Computing Science student at the University of Alberta -I tend to ramble on sometimes, making posts that nobody really reads, kinda like this one (hence the point form)....see, its the stuff in the brackets like that which ...anyway. -The rest I'll keep hidden behind the proverbial shroud of mystery thanks. |

Welcome to the forums! This topic has been discussed quite a few times before, so if you search the forums for "wacom tablet" or something like that you will find the thread and a lot of good info. I have the Intuos 2 6x8" though and I have no complaints. It is great. |

Thanks, found answers to most of my questions...but one thing I didn't see much about is the tilt sensitivity. To the Intuos 2 owners out there: is it worth it? does it do much?

I can't comment on tablets, but I'll just say welcome and show us what you're capable of (graphic or code-wise)

The tilting is cool, and very accurate and works very well. I can't say that I really have a use for it. But it is very sensitive and accurate if you need it.

What I'm capable of...well, code-wise: basically a bunch of dos-prompt stuff which amounts to my CMPUT assignments (like say a parser for a made-up programming language  ). Graphics wise...some of my works have been lost, though the best of it is printed, maybe I'll get around to scanning it...Otherwise, I've mostly done sigs & video game based gfx...if you're curious, check out http://www.funxbox.com/goty.php. I did all of the graphics you see in that thing... Oh, and I did some work on 3 prototype bridge artistic renditions for an engineering company: http://www3.telus.net/public/bjserink/devins/bridge2.jpg |

Re: Intuos 2 -- I didn't want to ever have to say, "I wish I'd spent the extra money"... so I bought the Wacom. No regrets.
