saw this and was wondering of what you guys thought... does it hold any water or is it just crap to try and drive bussiness to him? (a scam) http://www.websites-dont-work.com/ it seems to me his words conflict with his occupation and such... i guess i was just wondering what the people in the field seem to think of the concept that websites are useless.... just as a disclaimer... i am not affilated at all with this website, (nor his point or view for that matter[actually i'm against it deep down inside]) |

He's full of ****. I would never work with a company that puts down the entire rest of his industry. I don't go around slamming every other web design company in the world. There are some terrible designers out there, a whole lot of them. But he's basically saying "everyone else is stupid, except for us". He's a business man, not a web designer. That's why he's saying that stuff. He knows that CEO's and Presidents of companies care only about one thing: money. So he's saying that everyone else in the industry is over-charging and doesn't know anything about business or understand their clients companies. It probably works for him too. Unless the owner of a company looking at his services is smart enough to see through him. He's a marketer and businessman, and obviously doesn't know a lot about web design. He puts down coders, but has probably never written a line of HTML himself. He's a business man from the last generation, and he is marketing services to the same type of people. The only way he can sell web sites is by making his clients feel like he "knows" them becuase he's old and "experienced". Overall I think it's total bull ****. His own site is filled with errors, terrible usability and information architecture. He uses a lot of Microsoft only stuff, and displays Microsoft and IBM logos all over his site to make himself look bigger and more important. 700 offices all over the world? I've never heard of a single one of them. The site is full of exaggerations and marketing hype. 99.9% Bull****. |

"Hey, your website sucks!, buy ours with only 7000 monthy payments of $0.01!" - 'Let's just highlight the stuff that we want other people to see instead of reading through our B$ since we don't know what we're talking about.' ... 100% bull$hit I must say, it's a poorly executed advertisement. Websites aren't used just for business. Heck, business sites should be a minority. |

the simple answer is that he's lumping design, development, and marketing into one category when they're very clearly different things. as a business your site should be a tool for use with other types of marketing your actively doing, its not THE marketing. if you just build a website and throw it out there then no, it won't do much. duh. chris |

I couldn't read it all, I rarely get offended by STufF I read on the internet, but this really pissed me off. Maybe it's cuz I just landed a (well) paid job doing web STufF, but that guy/company really needs to rethink a lot of what was said. This is the website I just made for some guy www.channelphotography.com |

Far from reality, today webdesigner know about internet bussiness and e-marketing. We don't simply add code line, we create a layout and organise idea and product in way targeted to sale... These are tool create and maintained a website with ease, a way to maximize a webiste.... they are not eye candy!!! A good website does this... and most site pay!!! well when they are make by pros! All studies prove the contrary!!! and if being frist does not pay how come behing second or third will pay? BIG HUGE GIGANTIC exageration! It may be true than simply dumping a site on the internet with noting else may not work as promise, but with a good website promotion a website often come the be teh first contact with a client! And I will pass all the way he called the whole business! |

I take the liberty to translate this foreign alien language and attempt to make it readable: The web designers of today are not just mere automatons who only knows how to code; the good designers have the skill and experience to maximize business sales through appealing layouts and designs. These are programming languages which enable designers to expand site capabilities beyond visual appeal and information dispensing. A good website pays off the cost of designing by increasing revenue, especially if the site was made by experienced, knowledgable designers. Pretty self-explanitory... All studies prove the contrary; if first does not pay then how would being second or third on a search engine pay as well? (Actually I think this reason is more logical than having to do research...) That statement is an overexaggeration! It may be true that simply dumping a site on the internet without drawing traffic will prove to be useless, but with a good site promotion, the possibilty that the first contact with a client is through the site is quite high. And I like to thank mo0chan for attempting to decipher my ramblings, hopefully he doesn't make a mistake after doing parabolic equations for 2 hours straight on regular looseleaf paper. |
