Hello all, i recently purchased PS7 and decided to hit up the best PS forums i could find. I am hoping to learn alot here during my stay, which i plan to be a long one. I'm 16 and have always been intrigued with graphics and web design. I am strongly considering pursuing it as a career and was wondering, is it too late? Am i too far behind to learn graphics and such (Scripting, etc). And drawing by hand...? I used to quite a bit but now i flat out suck at it. I have a strong will to learn this stuff though and thats what i hope to accomplish by being here. I run a website for a gaming clan of mine (Yeah, i'm 16 remember...RTS games are fun). http://www.theaoclan.com It's average, and i recently realized that web design is all about graphics. So here i am, an aspiring 16 year old hoping to gain experience in the art. Sorry for the long post, just trying to give an honest introduction. Nos |

Not true at all. ;) It's about usability and user-friendliness. Graphics shouldn't be the first priority when making a website. Just had to get that of my chest. Welcome to teamps, hope you stay and contribute. |

Yes. Paavo is wise. And Finnish as well. You can make very slick web sites with little to no graphics at all. If you want to make cool graphics, make cool graphics. Don't try to make a web site out of every new cool graphic you design. They are two different mediums in most cases with different audiences and uses. People going to a web site normally want information, not a 20 minute download of "cool graphics". Unless of course they are going to a portfolio site. Then feel free to layer on the graphics. And not it is definitely not too late for you to learn. Not even close. You have more than enough time to learn before you can even legally drink, so you are doing very well. |
