Hey.

Wondering if anyone could help me out?

I'm moving to Los Angeles from the UK this coming spring, and will be looking for photoshop retouching work. I wanted to seek advice from anyone who lives in LA and working within design / retouching, or knows someone who does.

I've worked within (mostly cosmetic) retouching for years now, and would like to think I'm highly skilled with image manipulation and colour.

I'll probably be living within Hollywood, so one would guess there's plenty of opportunity for my field of work? As well as photographic, magazine, and print work, I've heard movie studios / production companies will hire a retoucher to work on images for graphics (such as movie posters)?

Please help out with any advice if you can. Any contact names would be really great.

Thanks.

Paul S.

If you didn't get an answer to the same request at the Adobe Forum, you're unlikely to get one here...no offense to the membership roster, but the folks here are generally high school age or a little older.

first, I'd start with Aquent Partners, then, I'd scope the newspapers. Then, I'd go to the coffee shops and bars and try to meet some creative types who might "know somebody."

Most of all, be patient. Our economy sucks right now.

Best of luck!

And LA is not the most "Job Friendly" town either =\

There are a lot of multi-media companies there, that offer a variety of services from film to photo re-touching. So it is a bit competitive.

I am speaking not from experience (cause I could never live in LA, hehe,) but my family is there. My brother is in the film industry and has a side business doing multi-media.

Basically, it's hard to get a job without knowing someone.

But good luck....
