Got news for you. They have been doing it for years (echelon). Between Europe and ourselves we have broken many privacy rights. Now it just appears that we will be able to spy on ourselves.

It was illegal for the U.S. to spy on it's own citizins. That is why we and Europe worked together (as well as Canada I think). They would do some work for us, then we would retrun the favor.

Now it just appears that they are getting closer to actually being able to do everything themselves. Bad News for everyone. Every phonecall, every email, every voice mail are all fair game. Say the correct "so called key words" and guess what...

Yes Pank, Canda did (and still) work on echelon with ths US. In fact Theres is some patrs of the echelon network (its a network of computers not a single huge machine) located in Canada.

It is also used by the Canadian Government. There come an iterrsting fact, wich may scare you. While echelon is suposed to be used for security reasons, it was disconer than Bombardier (a major plane constructor, along may things) as recived all informations about their competitors from echelon!

I wonder if the government can break PGP encryption yet. We could all encrypt our email messages and **** the system!

I could really care less if the government takes satellite photos of me, or reads my email, or listens to my cell phone conversations. Like they really care which porn web site I'm telling my brother about, or how I did in my golf game today, or what I'm doing in my backyard while mowing. I mean seriously, what do I have to hide? Nothing. The only thing illegal I really do is download a few MP3s here and there, and traffic-related stuff. If Uncle Sam wants to read my email, let him. My boss does already, so does yours. What's the difference? If they feel the need to spy on me to assure themselves that I'm not a terrorist, let them. If it helps them catch even one nutjob who plans to kill even one person, I think it was worth it. Until there are better ways to catch a terrorist, I'm fine with what they are doing.

Well I think if the terrorists have any brains at all, they won't use "technology" anymore. They'll just send standard mail, they'll no longer use the phone, etc.
