Sad thing is they will almost always get the amount needed. You can't do anything about it Still, no matter how he gets the money, I hope his dog will be allright :D |

I had no problem with the k10k issue...if the public were silly enough to actually donate so be it. However i this situation i am against it 100%. For one, i live in a family with a scientist for a Dad and a sister in med school, so we're all fairly medical. My sis has a job in which she works in surgery doing some sort of monitoring. Anyway, my point is that a torn ligament does indeed cause a lot of pain, the pain is often worse than a fracture, but there is really nothing you can do surgically....especially on a ****ing dog! I also cannot believe the fact that this will cost $2000, my bitch got a tumour removed from her varies for the equivilant of $200. I have had 5 dogs in my lifetime, i will always have a dog by my side, and like dek said, i would not ask strangers for money towards my pet. Isn't there pet insurance in America? One word for a conclusion: crack |

paying for a gaming site like gamespot.com is, to me, totally different than all these design sites begging all of the sudden. for one thing, the gaming sites employ people that only work on the site. it is like a magazine. all of these designers have other full time jobs where they should be getting their money. no one is forcing them to spend 30 hours a week working on their little design web sites. they are "supposedly" doing it for fun and for the love of design. not to make $2k for a new computer by begging for it. for another thing, gaming web sites like gamespot.com have a massively larger audience than some little design site, and they have to pay for bandwidth unlike most design sites that have their hosting donated by media temple. for yet another thing, sites like gamespot.com are businesses. sites like k10k are supposed to be art sites. you know, rage against the machine and all that anti-corporate america stuff. this begging that is going on at k10k is the equivalent of one of the editors at gamespot.com making a post on the front page asking for people to donate money to him so he can fix his computer, or his dog, or whatever else. and another thing, these designers are obviously pretty popular, or people wouldn't throw their money away on them. so why don't they just make some t-shirts, or posters, or post cards, or burn a cd with some of their art on it, and then sell them? that would get them their money, and it also wouldn't be begging. it would actually be selling something worth while to their "fans" in exchange for the money they need to finance their sites. you can get t-shirts printed for like $3 a piece, so that isn't a bad deal when people will buy them for $15. ****ing babies. |

yes... on gamespot.com or something like that you pay for THAT service, the site. You don't pay for the guy's cats or grandma, or bowling cloths, or whatever... If people had to pay to see k10k it would be something totally different. |

yeah, they should just charge you to see the site. or charge to see part of it like gamespot.com does. everything is free for a week, then the articles and stuff expire and you have to subscribe to see the archives and most of the videos and stuff. i think it's pretty clever. i was one of the first subscribers. though i certainly wouldn't pay to see k10k. but at least they wouldn't be begging. ****ing babies. |
