right, my initial splash for my site-in-the-works is at http://www.btinternet.com/~jpsherratt/ but the image is set as a background, which i have noticed cuts off different amounts in different resolutions... which i suppose means i have to have the image as an image in dw, not a background, now when i do this, i get a space at the bottom, because the bottom isn't a margin :/ how do i get rid of this space?! also.... i noticed on all the websites, the large images are divided into .gif files and tiled together perfectly, how. plz someone help me, as this has baffled me for months, and its one of the few things left i need to conquer before i can throw my noob status away :( |

use the slices tool in Photoshop to slice up the image. Then use the Save for web... option to export the images and generate HTML coding for it to work.

You could(should) make a script that checks the resolution of the visitor, and then choosing which backgroundImage it puts on the page.. Your pic is pretty cool, and would be a pity if everybody wouldn´t see the whole one.. The script wouldn´t be a hard one. EDIT: You would have to make the image smaller and bigger of course, but that isn´t too complicated is it? :p |
