How many here use SSI or SHTML? Is it helpful? Isn't it like PHP?? I've done some research on it online and keep thinking it's like PHP with less options to it, is this wrong?

.shtml is just the extension for using SSI.

If I were you, I'd go with PHP, unless you're just doing simple file includes, then SSI is all you need.

I got started is SSI because it could do a few nifty things like include CGI files in regular HTML pages. You might want to try http://bignosebird.com/ssi.shtml for more information.
