Obviously I have dreamweaver 4.0, and after I slice an image with imageready for a possible website layout, instead of creating tables on those images (which i have yet to figure out how to do), I just simply add a layer and move the location anywhere I want it to be. I haven't had many problems with this method for content in the past (except occasionally when the font is too big, the text will overlap, then I'd simply use a stylesheet and change the font), but I was curious if I could face any pontential problems in the future. Any ideas about this? thx |

well, studly.... I suggest you try to start using tables. Layers are great and all, that just have thier place. Incorporating both tables and layers into your designs will give you alot more flexibility. In addition, learning to use layers will help you with the text overflow problem. hope this helps |

I'd never ever advise using layers, especially whe your design is compact. Layers don't work in iCab at all, fit in totally different places between IE and Netscape. Don't let the simplicity of their use to take you over! One of the golden rules of webdesign is to make it compatible with EVERY platform if possible. Tables will work fine in your case. |
