I like CF because its mainly tag based, and powerful. The people who made CF (Allaire) have bought share in Macromedia and have made plans to integrated CF into Flash sometime in the future... In fact there is a sort of SDK (CF for Flash 5) out there already. Go read up on it, its a nice language to learn (works on windows and linux, contrary to what people might say!) |

Well finding a host that has CF is quite tedious... I'll stay with PHP... more supported, opensource and free |

Do you work for allaire? Yes, I agree with SideFX. I think I'll stick with PHP... which is free. |

I've got a buddy who's a professional web developer with Cold Fusion. Last time I talked to him he was learning PHP and setting up a box to test it on.

I use ColdFusion professionally, though I've also used PHP. The best CF host I've found is Handy Hosting, try: http://www.myhostingcompany.com/ (pricing is fairly reasonable - handyhosting.com for resellers) The CF5 demo from Macromedia doesn't really expire after 30 days - it just goes into developer mode (requests from a Single IP only). Atm I'm kind of interested in JSP (and Tomcat). I was under the impression that Team Photoshop was hosted by Acta Divina (based in Canada), and was wondering opinions on this hosting company. But I see from the domain record that this site is hosted elsewhere now. Any recommendations for a Tomcat/JSP host suitable for a personal web site (i.e. not too pricey)? - n8 |

I wouldn't call it "buying share" considering that Allair Homesite is now known as Macromedia Homesite and Allaire Cold Fusion is now known as Macromedia Cold Fusion. It's more like, "we are macromedia and we now own Cold Fusion" |
