Advantages

What are the advantages of using .php and/or .asp.
I mean what do the do and do you know any sites where I can learn them?

php - an advantage to using this is that it is always pretty much platforum independant. It can run on Unix boxes, Linux boxes as well as Windows Servers. It's relativly easy to learn once you get accustomed to datatypes, accessing files and accessing databases.

asp - it's sortof platform independant because you can get your webservers administrator to install a product called 'chilli soft asp' onto your *nix machine and it will run asp. unfortunatly, most webserver administrators are not as accomodating in installing this package as many hope. So some people are either stuck with php or they end up moving to an IIS/Windows host or a host that already has asp capabilities.

It all depends on your preference. If you want to learn asp, you have to learn vbscript. basically, they are one and the same. If you want to learn php, you only have to know php. Both do access to textfiles, databases (sql, postres sql, oracle). ASP can access 'access' databases.

PHP can use odbc-exe to access "access"

PHP is simple, easy to learn and free. Its also swedish, so thats a point in its favour.

I whiped up a simple tut on including pages with asp.
