Learn to write HTML first, before you use an editor. That way you will understand what's going on "behind the scenes".

www.webmonkey.com

www.htmlgoodies.com

or buy a book on HTML/CSS

One good tool is a color coded text editor that will help you organize your code and to a certain extent check for valid tags and code.

There are several on the market that are free, or a really great one that Macromedia bought and continues to produce:
Homesite (I think its only a $99, but I have used it for the last few months and really like it.)

but a free one (and it is really quite good.) :

there are others I have used, like Synedit, but I am not sure the state of them. Bluefish is the linux one, but I think it kind of stinks and never got past its beta stage.

If you go to Yahoo and search for Dave's HTML site then you will get a link to a VERY good course for HTML. It's free and you can test the HTML you learn right on the website.

Dreamweaver is pretty good but you should still have knowledge of HTML before you use dreamweaver.

I use dreamweaver, but you should still know XHTML and CSS before using it, or it can be just as bad as any other Visual Editor.
