Frames?

What is the best way to accomplish the following?

I would like to have a text link open up a window to the right of it (within a table) I know html frames can accomplish this, but I hate them.. Are there any other options out there?

..use PHP to include a specific content into a cell in the table?
..or just use the damn frames lol.
You CAN start fidling with JS to do that, but I wouldn't suggest it just because it can't handle very much info, as the content is to be held in a variable. (you'd probably have to make it in a single-row)
