I just discovered this site. I am about to buy a new digital camera and this site is proving very helpful.

Thanx deker. :D

I need all the resources I can find, especially when I am spending so much money. At least it is a lot for me. The "big money" designers might not even flinch when they put down nearly a grand. :p

Also, it can be nearly 3 times as expensive here in Sweden than in the USA for the same camera. Kinda sux. :(

Send me the money and I will buy the camera here, and ship it to Sweden.

I proposed a similar plan to NL, but he wouldn't do it for some reason. I think because he didn't have any money.

But yeah, $1000 is a lot for a camera. My next one will either be: http://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/F602/F62A.HTM

or this

I like macro photos. And those are both really good for that. He also mentions the Fuji as being one of the fastest digital cameras he's tested. Which is nice.

We have this one at work: http://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/CP2500/C25A.HTM

It takes quite nice macro shots for a camera in its price range, but it is SOOOOOOOO SLOOOOOW. I swear. I would have to destroy the thing if I needed to do anything other than non-moving macro shots with it. You press the button down to take a picture, and literally like 2 seconds later, it will take the picture.

The Fuji actually has a shooting mode that takes pictures before you even press the button! It must be some kind of witchcraft that enables it to do that. Those crazy Fujis.

Speaking of macro photography, there is some nice stuff over on a thread at YayHooray: http://www.yayhooray.com/thread/22639.html

The pictures in the first post were done with the Coolpix 4500. Pretty damn nice, I must say.

Love those macro shots! Wow.

I am sure we would all love to have a camera like this one:

But, :p this is the camera I am looking at.

I am kinda a Canon lover. We have an Ixus and a (Non-Digital) EOS Elan II. We purchased both before I got intested in design. I love taking pictures of our children. :p

The Nikon we have here at work has a great interface, which I appreciate. Other Nikon's I've used are similarly easy and intuitive to use. Which is pretty important with a digital camera I think. My wife and I used to have a cheaper Fuji digital camera, but the interface was horrible. It was a pain in the ass to do anything with it. Then the dogs chewed it up. Stupid dogs.

Yikes, the dog ate my camera. :p That can't be good. Have any children? We have three boys, I always call them "my three sons". I am sort of the minority in my house, surrounded by males. :p

Do you use filters often?

I am looking at all the accesories for the G3.

No kids. Well, the dogs... My wife treats them like children. Very spoiled dogs. www.chattanoogadobermans.com for pictures if you are interested.

I never use filters. I don't know much about the technical aspects of photography. I'm sure a standard setup would work fine for me.

I know malibu likes buying all sorts of fancy things for his camera... perhaps he will have some input.

Sign me up, I'll take two. One boy one girl. :p

Seriously though, we are moving to states next year, and we really are looking to buy two dogs. Does your wife do all that (breeding etc...)? Lots of work! We will live very close to TN too. Cool. The dogs are beautiful!

She was going to breed them, but I think she has kind of abandoned that idea now. We recently sold some of them. We only have Max and Rye now. She is close friends with someone that still breeds them though. www.skylindobermans.com (i designed that site too)

She always has puppies or knows someone that does, so I'm sure they could help you find some one way or another.
