Little bit photomanip, little bit digital art (haven't done any serious digital art in a quite some time)

Still a major WIP though.

The skyline is just a cut/paste job right now...until I can decide what I want it to look like.

well here's an update (of sorts).

I like the contrast between a cow & the city in the background, but the overal image has a such a bright happy feeling....which i dont think fits the subject matter all that well.

Im thinking a dark/foggy background works better. It fits the mood/subject, and it contrast perfectly with the colors and really puts focus on the "portrait" (ie cow).

I may include more stereotypes.....somewhere...maybe in the distance. Not sure yet.

It's another nice cut&paste job lol.

that is great work rodder...
i'm not sure which one I like best... the first one was really good too.
And you should definitely add more stereotypes, how about a statue of liberty that is eating a burger? it could stand in the sea there.

Awesome job!

Man I think its looking good so far. The thing that first caught me offgaurd is that the cow isnt leaving any indentation in the sand. I doubt he'd lay down perfectly like that. You should make the sand around him a little more messed up, make his hoof prints deeper and more circular, like its a big heavy cow thats sitting there in the sand, possibly even pile some sand around the cow making it look like it really is sitting there in the sand. I like what you've done so far though.

The prints are there, just faded right now. I agree more sand work is needed. Its pretty hard though, most of the variations in the sand are vertical.....and I need it horizontal. I may borrow sand from a few other pictures though, see it that works out.

I tried to add more stereotypes, but im at the end of my folder of photos...and nothin worked out all that well. I decided instead i'll put a few tv's in the sand.

Of course the tv's/tv shadows are a cut/paste job right now. Not sure bout the little one in back, but the 2 closest ones i like. Maybe the screen will reflect some sand...er something.

just adding to the praise =P i think it's awesome, the tone/shading is quite beautiful, and there's a real moodiness to the piece. presonally, i think the previous update (
http://www.shiftstate.com/Projects/...stereo_wip3.jpg) without the tvs and with a greyer/duller colour is your best one, and it looks completed to me. i just get a good sense of a damp, misty/foggy beach with that one, it's more subtle/sophisticated, so melancholy and beautiful.

Yeah I like the gray bg too. But I really want to break the image in half using contrast...and the gray I think blends too much. It also seems to bring out the colors of the flag.

nother update lol. Though it seems a little bottom heavy....not quite sure bout it.
