Your font for "#1 Draft Picks Vol 2" is a little bit too wacky. This looks more like the back of a cd with the tracklisting. And maybe it's just me and my misunderstanding of rap - but wouldn't it be better to show this guy DJing rather than showing his alliance to the Pacers? Seems that you could pick a better shot of him.

you ever do anything other than the rapper cd covers?
doesn't look too bad so far, just major issues with the typography. first off, #1 Draft Picks... looks like a kid font and doesn't go with this very well. now the track titles is where you've got big problems. the text is too heavy, then you've got the first 12 tracks going in a diagonal and the rest in that curved shape that flows around his arm. look at the wrap breaks, you've got on tracks 2, 14, 16, 17, 18... things like that aren't acceptable at all.
i also see that you've created one blue and yellow stripe and cipied and rotated it to make the second one, which tells me that you were to lazy to make another one with different grunge.
i can tell that you're improving but, it seems as if you're trying to pack things in just to fill up the space.

I have to agree with them. The type just doesnt look rap enough, not enough bling, there isnt enough impact. Maybe use the basketball theme a bit more for the type. I think the image is fine, but what about putting in a background image to make it a bit more dynamic. I also think you only need the horizontal stripe, then you could move the image over and this will help resolve the title problem.

there is some major leading problems in between #12 and #13, other than that it looks like the typical rap cover, so it works.

The way the blue and yellow crosses in the background reminds me of the Swedish flag.

Font choice could really see some rethinking, it's currently only one step away from Comic Sans Serif ;) Look for 2 fonts that are altogether more ahemm 'street' - Aardvark Bold, Bindweed, Porn Star Academy even something like Creampuff if used wisely.

I would be tempted to give him an appropriate background, even if you blur it beyond recognition it gives some context.

^ Yup.
And that dude needs to cut his f*****g fingernails before a photo-session next time!
Or is it a good thing in the rap-circles nowadays?

lol, he made sure he looked how he wanted on his cover. I understand everything. that tracklisting is for the vol 1 and this is vol 2. once i get the track listing i will place it right, i just wanted him to see how a tracklisting would look on the side. I know i need to make the tracklisting all right and everything. I think yeah i should do another grunge on the top bars to make it a bit different. He also wanted it kinda simple with limited color for his printing for some reason. and its just a insert and he wanted the tracks on the front with him. Also, yes mostly all i do is stuff for hip hop artists. Thats mostly what my client work is right now. I want to expand eventually but thats where im mostly known right now!
