Alright, I've narrowed it down to 3 that are in my price range, but each of them have a few feautures missing or better megapixels or something...what do you guys think of these?

Kodak DX3600 Zoom
Kodak Easyshare LS420
Nikon Coolpix 2500

thanks for your help!

I don't know about these particular models, but in *general*, I have heard negative things about Kodak digital cams. You should check out some of the review sites and see how they faired and then lay your hands on each to see how you like the feel and operation.

http://www.dpreview.com is one already suggested on this forum. There's another one... www.steves-digicams.com that seems to be pretty good too.

My bro bought an Olympus D360. It has worked well for him.

I bought the Sony DSC-F707, 5 mega pixel. A little more money for a really good camera. Just a thought.

One thing I might add... don't discount buying a demo model from the electronics retailers. You might be able to a nicer camera for the same money. They come with the same warranty as though they are new. And often times, these guys get too many returns and are aggresive in moving this inventory before it becomes a *clearance* item where they have to *really* discount it so they are eager to make deals. Check around.

yeah. All I need is a camera that takes pictures.

So I got the olympus d380 I think. it was only 185 bucks.

I didn't want to get the best out there (ie, a 1000 dollar camera) and I was only looking to spend 200 or less.

The 3600 was my first Digicam. It was great, and it makes great 8x10's with a good printer. The only thing I did not like about it was the night pictures. It soes not do very well in the dark at all. It is a great camera otherwise.

They are joking about the HP. HP does not even make their own cameras.
