I need to start taking pictures using a point-and-shoot digicam for class. I will need to take pictures over the semester and then eventually print them out and bind it into a book. I tested out a shot w/ my parent's DSC-w1 and i was shocked to discover that the image is only 72 dpi. WTF. i guess i'm an idiot. can someone help me figure out how to boost the dpi in-camera or what am i doing wrong? kthx |

You most likely can't boost your res in-camera (unless you have some kind of print options or you print straight to printer....w/out a computer). Some cameras have a default setting of 300, so just double check all your menus/options. Now as to why your photo is only 72 dpi.....read my huge post here. http://forum.teamphotoshop.com/showthread.php?p=173509#post173509 Hopefully that clears some stuff up. |

Pixels are pixels reguardless of the dpi. If the camera is 3 MegaPixels, it only shoots 3000 pixels reguardless. Ie., I've got one camera that shoots 96 dpi??? However, if you take an image that is 800X600 pixels @ 72 dpi, and change it to 300 dpi, it's still 800X600 pixels--it just 2.6X2" now. edit :: oops:: I see you got into that on your other post Rodder... ;) |
