Can i copy a selection from a multi leveled psd file to my clipboard without going the long way and duplicate and flatten the image?

Nijo,
You can copy the images from all visible layers within any selection by choosing Copy Merged from the Edit menu. Copy Merged will do the flattening for you in the copy action without affecting the composition of your image. If you hide the background layer, it will even preserve the transparency in all visible layers.
