I'm just wondering if there is anyone that has had exeperience with the site manager in Dreamweaver 4.

Been playing around with it, and started using on the last project I'm working on. But I found out early on that it wouldn't work. I'm thinking especially on uploading templates. When I made some changes and uploaded the template it didn't work!

I had to put in some extra hours recreating the template to using only includefiles. I think that is the best way! But in general I realy like the idead about the template DW offers. Does anyone experience the same problems as I, or is it just that I screwed it up?

In my experience, when you update a template in Dreamweaver, you can't just upload a new template file. You have to make changes to the .dwt file, then save it; it will then ask if you want to update all of the pages that use that template. If you say yes, it will change all of the pages that use the template, then you have to upload every single page, not just the template file. So yes, Server Side Includes are usually easier to work with.

The problem is that I don't work directly on the server. I make the changes on my local drive where I keep a copy of the template (.dwt). And when I make a change it askes if I want to change the files dependent to that template. But only the files on my local drive, not on the server.

But now I see the problem. I have actually been kinda stupid when I think about it :D

Do you know where I can get some documentation concerning site administration. Haven't been able to find some.

You mean documentation concerning site administration in Dreamweaver, or administration in general? For Dreamweaver, just try the help files.

Yeah, the help files in Dreamweaver are really well written in my opinion. I've never had to go anywhere else for any help information.
