ok since my site is gonna have menus in it i figured i would load the movies when the button is clicked since too much actionscript would be involved with having all my menus be mc's. anyways does anyone know of a site that explains how to load movies and the do's and dont's of it so i can get it righ the first time?
also please to not give me a link to one of the big names like flashkit.com i can type that address as well as you... im looking for an exact page or tutorial that explains and talks about it

lol, you're really resurecting this section!

Loading external files are the simplest things to do in Flash..I would always load a movie into a blank MC, just a habit.

Make a new MC, put nothing in it. Drop it on the main stage, name it say 'host' as it is a host for your external file..Now, on your button, put this code..

on (release) {
loadMovie ("http://blahblah.com/blah.swf", "host");
}

blah.swf being your external menu or whatever. You can also load movies into different level but i never do that, read up on it if you want. Test the movie, when you click it, it will go to your website, grab your menu and pull it into your main movie. This is trhe method i use on my site, http://www.cyblingdesign.com and it works like a charm. I'd really reccomend getting Colin Mook's guide to Actionscripting book.
