Hello,

I'd be interested to talk to anyone familiar with RIP software. I'm looking to get around Photoshop's 30K pixel maximum.

I create an image in this 3d software I have - then it outputs a very large, very high-resolution (1440, in this case) .tiff. I'd like to print it out on our Mutoh-based 6200 series large format inkjet.

Here's the problem, the file is 41,000 pixels tall. Now, can anyone tell me a RIP that will open such a file - bypassing photoshop's wimpy 30K limit?

thanks for any help

I'm sure if you drop the output resolution to 720 p.p.i you'll still have a great looking image. If you're so concerned...30,000 pixels divided by 28.472 inches (which I got by dividing 1440 into 41,000) still comes out to 1053 p.p.i. Seriously, anything over 300-400 d.p.i. at the printer is just wasting ink and file space.

If you absolutely must output at this high a resolution have a look at PosterWorks.

thanks, I'm on my way to posterworks.

I know it sounds ridiculous - trust me everyone thinks I'm such a newbie dealing with insane resolutions like this. But, the resolution has to be either 720 or 1440 to work correctly with this technique - lenticular graphics - and our printer's 1440 is much deeper, richer in color than it's 720 mode.

thanks again Utopian
