I'm doing a printwork in Illustrator for the press. What settings should I choose? How sharp? Thanks! ![]() |

Flatness = Printing Device resolution / Output resolution Loosly translated this means. Flatness "equals" your printers optimal resolution "divided by" The output resolution you have set. Now... when dealing with Flatness (a term associated with paths) a smaller number is better. SO.. if your printer is a 1200 dpi printer and you set the output resolution at 300 dpi.... you are printing with a "Flatness" of 4.... 1200 / 300 = 4 I generally shoot for a 2 or at the very least a 3 remember the lower the flatness the longer it takes to print. Also if you are taking this to a "commercial" printer to have it printed. You should consult them about their specifications. |
