make a layer FADE?

how do i do it?


make a layer fade off and disappear? am i calling it the wrong thing?



(such as changing the occupency of a layer in photoshop)

Well, this is for Flash 4, and it's for text, but the same principles apply. Alpha can also be substituted for the Tint command.

If you're using Flash 5, alot of the commands are on the Effect\Instance palette. If it's not showing, you can go up to Modify > Instance, and choose the Effect tab. It's just a tween, with the opacity changed at each end.

u cant make a "layer" dissapear. U can only make objects in the layer dissapear. If u want it to dissapear as an animation u need 2 keyframes in your timeline after u have created the object. then you can select the second keyframe and lower the alpha value through the instance pannel. actually you can make a layer fade, it's an actionscript code.
