I'm working on a pretty simple project but having some issues, it seems like most of the options on my palettes are grayed out. it won't let me set tabs either, when i crtl-shift-t and try to set a tab on the ruler my cursor turns into a hand and just scrolls/pans the ruler. any ideas? this is on xp (at work). thanks. chris |

for the most part, yeah, it seems like certain selections aren't available till i pick something else tho. i'm just getting the hang of the program so i'm not entirely sure yet. maybe this is just an oddity of the layout? thanks 3jorn. chris |

I've been using Indesign since 1.0 and I've personally never seen this before. I spent the last 10 minutes TRYING to force the program to do this (messing around with settings and what not) and couldn't manage to wash out any of my pallettes. I'm on a Mac, but maybe Windows has a patch or something for your particular version. I know its an obvious answer, but I thought I'd say it in case it slipped your mind.

heh, good thought but i already checked, running the latest update. someone on the adobe forums mentioned he'd seen it before and a save as and reboot fixed the prob so i'm about to try that. i would insert some derogatory pc comment in here but nothing comes immediately to mind ;) chris |

Actually I did manage to force the program to do something like that. Basically, I had a new page with no boxes in it, and when I added a guide by Ctrl+Click+drag from the rulers, and after the guide had set, all my options went gray.

I hit undo, and before I put any guides down I put in a box down first.
