Custom Preloaders?

I'm looking to make one but I'm not sure where or how to do it.

Is it hard?

I tried looking through the Flash Help but it sucks. It doesn't explain things well enough.

i use the preloader from this tutorial from ultrashock:

it's written for flash 5 but works great in mx and mx 2004 with a few minor changes. i just put it in an additional scene before my main movie (only use i've found for scenes) and tell it to go to the next scene when it loads.
