Actionscript for menu system

Hi. I am pretty new to flash, and brand new to actionscript. I have Flash 4 BTW. I'm making an interface which i want to scroll down revealing buttons. How do i get the movie to sstop, and the buttons to appear? Take it that i have the scrolling down movie as a symbol lets say... 'scroll'. Where does the buttons and actionscripts come in?? this is a site with the type of interface i want. (never mind the drag option) Thanx  here is the link
