Anti Alias Curves

In 3D Studio Max 4(.2) what are the best anti-aliasing settings for sharp curves. I always use area set to 1 pixel for straight lines, but I get some jaggies with my curves. What do you recommend?

try increasing the number of segments in the object, that usually smooths things out a bit

I don't mean how to make smooth shapes, that's easy, I mean how do you make the edges crisp when rendered?
