Having a bit difficulty

okay with my new site i'm using a cascade menu over a graphic i made as the background. The menu is transparent and i made transparent .gif files with just text to put in each bar of the menu. When i view the page the text is not clear and it has white mess all around it.... I have the width and height correct in the menu and the image so that is not the problem..... can anyone help?

when you save those transparent gif files, set your "matte" to none.

thanks a lot, it worked, but while it wasn't working i decided not to put the menu over the graphic anyways..... i'm sure i'll have more questions tho, thanks anyways
