render layer?

i am working with photoshop 6.

i was following the text tut on "making rough metallic text." i got halfway through the first step :D then it says to go to layer/type/render layer. so i go to layer/type but there is nothing there that says layer. thx in advance for the help.

Help files would probably cover rendering a layer, but right-click on the layer and hit 'Rasterize Layer.'
