That is definitely a job for the pen tool. Remember to click and drag the tool in the direction you want the curve to go. Also remember that holding down the Option Key (Alt key on PC) will allow you to adjust one side of the curve handles while leaving the other side unmoved, which allows you to get those sharp points.
